Buzzing from “Real Time with Bill Maher”

We just got back from being in tonight’s audience for Real Time with Bill Maher. It was a great show – lots of sharp-witted commentary (the remote interview with Michael Moore was particularly good) and a great song from John Legend while the credits rolled.

The traffic out of Hollywood was nuts! We had to get north of Hollywood and Highland just to get a clear lane (was splitting almost the entire way along Fairview and Sunset – crazy in that busted up pavement!) The freaks were definitely out tonight – much more than the usual fare in Hollywood. It was fun to be out in a carnival atmosphere for a bit, especially after seeing such a great show. Now I’m off to set the DVR to record tonight’s west coast broadcast.

Also – check the replay of overtime when they have it on the site – some great New Rules there…

Happy Halloween from Mekong and Pumpkin

In honor of this festive season, I thought I’d share this picture of Mekong and Pumpkin taking an inquisitive sniff of a bottle of absinthe we bought a while back. We always joke that Mekong thinks he’s Superman – check out the spiffy collar – and Pumpkin is our little Aquaman with his green and gold collar and fascination with the all things containing water – particularly the toilet. So it seems appropriate that Halloween might be “their season of choice”.

And this one I just can’t pass up – it’s a pic of Mekong and Pumpking “spooning” during a nap, with Mekong stretching a paw out over Pumpkin’s head. It was hard not to wake them up with our snickering, so we’re glad to have captured the moment with a picture.

Being cute 24/7 is simply exhausting

Taping Real Time with Bill Maher – Halloween Night

I’m totally stoked! Julie and I get to attend Friday night’s taping of Real Time with Bill Maher. Even though it airs on HBO, the studio where they tape the show is on the CBS lot in Sherman Oaks – right down the street from us. For me, Bill represents a much-needed sardonic “voice of reason” in the world, so I’m really excited to have a chance to catch the show live on the Friday before the election.

Julie and I got a chance to cavort around in Halloween masks for a music video that was shot a week or so ago. The song is called “F*ckin’ Liars” by Scott Getlin, and is a rollicking/rocking tune! It should be hitting YouTube and other video portals pretty soon.
