One of the great things about living in Hollywood is the huge variety of culinary options. Aside from having a few dozen franchises between home and work, there are an uncounted number of one-off shops that range from greasy spoon to haut-cuisine. Then there are “the trucks” (and many times they are unceremoniously referred to as “roach coach”) which seem to have been granted a bit of semi-celebrity status. Don Chow Tacos is one such example, and for my part, they deserve it. They stopped in front of my office near Hollywood and La Brea – which was brought to our attention when someone in the office sent an all-around email calling them out. Recently Don Chow Tacos was featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” and had stopped in front of Live Nation’s Beverly Hills’ office where they were discovered by the aforementioned co-worker.
It was what you’d expect – a mixture of chinese/oriental food prep delivered in a street taco (and they have burritos and other offerings). Their menu is definitely worth a bit of study – lots of folks had to take a gander to get a handle on what was on offer. It was fast, fresh, and pretty dog-gone good. I hope they come back soon.
